Built for the Mac
ZenMail is a native macOS app built with SwiftUI and AppKit. It uses familiar Mac windows, menus, keyboard behavior, notifications, Keychain sign-in, and Apple silicon performance. It requires macOS 26 or later.
Email bodies are displayed in a protected web-rendering surface because real-world email depends on HTML. The surrounding app—navigation, account state, search, compose, triage, settings, and sync—is native.
Zen Mode: one message at a time
Zen Mode turns the inbox into a focused queue. Instead of scanning a crowded list, you open one thread, make a decision, and move forward.
- Press E to archive and continue.
- Press H to snooze a message until it matters.
- Press R to reply or Enter to reply all.
- Press U to mark a thread unread.
- Use J and K to move with the keyboard.
The point is not to memorize a hundred shortcuts. It is to keep the handful of actions you use all day from interrupting your concentration.
The Screener: choose who reaches you
Spam filters try to identify malicious or unwanted mail. ZenMail’s Screener gives you a more personal boundary: the first message from an unfamiliar sender waits for your decision before that sender joins the normal inbox.
Approve the sender and future messages flow normally. Block them and they stay out. People you have already emailed are recognized automatically, so the trusted inbox begins with your real network.

Fast because your mail is close
ZenMail keeps a local cache of synchronized Gmail data on your Mac. Threads can open from local state, search does not need to begin with a blank browser tab, and previously synchronized mail remains available when the connection disappears.

Your Gmail stays between Google and your Mac
ZenMail connects directly from the app to Google’s Gmail APIs. We do not operate a separate mail server that receives or stores a copy of your inbox.
Google sign-in uses OAuth, and the tokens that keep you signed in are stored in macOS Keychain. The local mail cache stays on your Mac. Website analytics, licensing, and the waitlist are separate systems and do not receive Gmail message content.

Designed around decisions, not decoration
ZenMail’s visual language is intentionally quiet. The inbox should make sender, subject, time, and next action obvious without turning every feature into a competing panel.
That same principle shapes the architecture: load from local state, update optimistically, synchronize in the background, and keep errors visible when something genuinely needs attention.
